Dr Pankaj Taneja

Dr Pan graduated with BDS from the University of Sheffield, UK, in 2006 winning the Prize for Professionalism by the General Dental Council UK; he then completed junior rotations in general Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Oral Medicine in the Midlands of the UK. Dr Pan was appointed as an Academic Clinical Fellow/Specialty Registrar in Oral Surgery at the Birmingham Dental Hospital in 2013. During his time at Birmingham, he completed and published several projects, for which he won a number of awards, as well as examine and teach dentists, dental students and nurses.

Dr Pan relocated to Demark in 2016 to undertake a PhD in orofacial pain. He published on a variety of topics including pain modulation and evidence-based surgical techniques, presenting his work at international conferences. Following, he was made Assistant Professor in Oral Surgery at Aarhus Dental School in 2021 and led student education in the department. One area he helped to develop was the first VR dental CPR training scenario.
Currently, Dr Pan is the Head of Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine and Dentomaxillofacial Radiology at Sydney Dental Hospital, treating complex patients whilst training the upcoming registrars in oral surgery. He recently was appointment as Clinical Associate Professor in Oral Surgery for Sydney Dental School. His interests are in dentoalveolar surgery. He now also attends to patients seeking surgical interventions and wisdom teeth removals at Hawkesbury Orthodontics.

Outside of work, Dr Pan enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 small children. He is
Associate Editor for the Journal of Oral Surgery and a reviewer for several dental journals. He has a passion for raising money for charity and has completed a number of half marathons for various charitable organisations. He has travelled to remote areas of Vietnam to treat children for their dental needs. Considering his charitable work, Dr Pan was nominated to run with the Olympic Torch as part of the Torch Relay for the London 2012 Olympics and now owns his very own Olympic Torch!
